Flush eaves - need for breathable felt?

I'm currently building a garage with a pitched roof which is quite close to the boundary wall. I'm almost at the roof stage and I'm considering putting in flush eaves i.e no soffit. To do this would I need to use breathable felt as there won't be any vents as there would be if I had a soffit?

The breathable felt seems quite expensive so if I could get away with ordinary roofing felt it would make a big difference. I just want to make sure that it doesn't damage the roof timbers down the line.

HI - you've no soffit but do you have a facia board? - Glidevale ventilation do an 'over facia vent' that goes ontop and you dress the felt over it.
Technically all breather felt should be vented also -ABOVE the felt any way (BRE)

For a garage though it's not that important I'd say the wind will be whistling 'round it.
