I use a wireless router and it tells me my connection speeds. Today I had to do a reboot and lo and behold my upload speed is now 224kbps, always read 384kbps?? Did a few reboots but still 224kbps? I am in Clare.

    I have the 3mb package.

    Has something changed?

Thats eircom fiddling around with the dsl gear again . BT have no direct control over it , they told eircom to give you 384k from the word go .

Are you using the BT supplied modem? If not try it and check the speed.
Any new devices plugged into the phoneline lately?
Could also be weather related. Rain/snow in a junction box/manhole. It could even sort itself out in a couple of days.

My router is still saying 2048 down/256 up as per usual. I'm using a Netgear modem/router I bought myself.

Don't go by that, download the BT test file (large one) here : http://www.btyahoo.com/speedtest
and see what your download speed is, or you can use this site either : http://www.speedtest.net/

It's the sync speed that the op is having trouble with, not his download speed. Links to speedtest sites are irrelivant.
kleefarrs connection speed is correct even though his actual speed will be different.

Actually do go by that. It's the report from the modem of what speed it is connected at. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get a higher speed than the modem reports being synced at (not counting compression for any smartasses).
