Hey, looking for a bit of advice on how to actually start up a physical poker match at home for a small number (6 or so). I play online a bit, so its not advice on how to play etc. but more on the structure of a game. A few of us have only taken the game up recently, and we've played a few games but the thing is very messy, with no decent blind structure etc.

I'm just looking for practical advice on:

    1. Chip count (how much does everybody get and what should they be worth)

    2. Blinds (how much, how often to raise)

    3. Buy-backs, what's the story with them?

Our games generally run too long, would like to have a game of around 3 or 4 hours max.

Any help would be really appreciated.... (and i apologise in advance if any of the questions are already answered elsewhere, big noob here :o )

    Here's an example from http://www.homepokertourney.com/blinds_samples.htm

    Multiple Rebuy Tourney

This format features a low buyin with multiple rebuys and a hefty add-on. The result should be a wild game with lots of risk-taking. This schedule uses timed blinds for the first three rounds and then the blinds increase each time a player is eliminated.

    BUYIN: $10 buys 1000 chips

    REBUYS: $10
Player must have less than 500 in chips to rebuy.
Rebuys will be progressive for the first three rounds.
    No rebuys after round 3.
    Round 1: $10 for 1000 chips
    Round 2: $10 for 1250 chips
    Round 3: $10 for 1500 chips

    ADD-ON: $10 for 1500 chips
At conclusion of round 3 only.
All players may add-on for 1500 chips.
Regardless of player chip stack size.

    BLIND STRUCTURE (30 MINUTE ROUNDS)

    Round 1: 25- 25
    Round 2: 25-50
    Round 3: 50-100
Break 15 Minutes (Color Up, Rebuys and Add-On's)

After Round 3, the blinds will change as players are eliminated.

    9 Players: 100/200
    8 Players: 200/400
    7 Players: 300/600
    6 Players: 400/800
    5 Players: 500/1000
    4 Players: 600/1200
    3:Players: 700/1400
    2 Players: 800/1600

Once the players are heads up, the blinds increase 100/200 every 30 minutes.
