Well, Im starting this one early, hopefully we still dont use the old one for this weekend. All my hard work for nothing:(

Anyway, tough trip for Mickos men this weekend. Up to Cavan on Saturday. If Wicklow can pull off a win, they would be in a great position. But it'll be tough. That lad sent off for Cavan last week, is he suspended or whats the story there? Slaggings are gonna have to start sooner rather than later with the Cavan folk on here;)

Also hoping to see Tipp beat Wexford actually.

Well following an awful performance from Wexford last week you never know. We have put ourselves under pressure with a terrible result and it could reeally affect our chances of qualification (but hopefully it won't :) )

cruiserweight, a Wexford man I see. Im halfly from Tipp, so thats the main reason behind that comment. But live in Wicklow, so I get two shots at your team in the League this year. Unless ya want to count the O' Byrne Cup;). Wexford already feeling the pressure maybe.

Mhaigh Eo Abú! Hope we come out to in the group again this year but not lose to a county like Galway or worse Dublin! It will be interesting to see who willwin the league this year. Kerry have no fire anymore (not yet anyhow) and there is better competition for league every year.

Should be an easy victory for Cavan... ;)

Nah, I reckon it will be a close game maybe two or three points being the difference between the sides. I just reckon Cavan will be too much for Wicklow going on past games at Breffni.

I know that neither team will be the same but as much as Wicklow have been woken by O'Dwyer, we have had our own mini revival under Keogan. The team have recieved a good kick up the arse from him which is what they needed. He is a Cavan man and his hunger for Cavan success is the difference.

I fully expect Wicklow to be buzzing around Breffni Park and playing well, and that will be met with grit, determination and will to win by the Cavan boys. I just reckon Cavan's experience and over all ability will be the deciding factor in the result.

Don't be surprised to see Cavan fall asleep if they go a good few points up though, it has happened twice this year against Queens and Meath. Hopefully from a Cavan perspective, we will have that little problem sorted out long before the game starts.

Best of luck on Saturday, hope you enjoy the game and our great little set-up in Breffni.

[edit: I forgot to add that Michael Brennan of Drumalee is in for the suspended Joe Crowe in Saturday's game. It shouldn't make much of a difference to how we play, Crowe is only a new comer to the set up. I don't really rate Brennan tbh.]

Good God!!! Do you not have a superstitious bone in your body????? Never ever ever ever ever say bad things about Kerry - I think the "not yet anyhow" might be enough to stop you guaranteeing them a League and Championsip double!!! Congrats on last Sunday - any day anyone beats Kerry is good and I'm sure it was nice revenge for last year. But I'm afraid Longford beat them last year and went on to get relegated.

Pornapster, unfortunately I wont be at the match. Lad who was supposed to be coming with me is dying of the flu. A cold saturday in Cavan unfortunately wont cure him...but a Wicklow win might;). So a few cans sitting round the wireless will have to suffice:D

One problem for Wicklow is they are a small team. As in, the players are quite small. But they really quick. thats why when they come upo against a strong, big side, its always difficult for them. Shall have to listen carefully for whats happening. Really hope Leighton Glynn, JP Dalton play well again. Good potential. Paul Earls scores from everywhere lately. James ?stafford needs to catch a ball soon though.

AGHHH!!!! don't crush my spirit!!:D I'm happy with anyone winning the league or championship this year as long as it is not Kerry (touch wood;)) At this stage I'm used to Mayo losing big matches!!

Heard good reports about Mayo against Kerry. Very fit but thats to be expected from O' Mahony! Is there many new faces in the team? How do u rate them? How do u think Sundays game will go?

Hard to see how the game on Sun will go. Big win for Donegal on Sat. First game under lights for Donegal. Neill Gallagher back at Midfield should improve us there and they're trying Kevin Cassidy there as well. Definitely a big physical midfield but time will tell. The Defence is as solid as ever and no surprises there. Getting a settled Full forward line is our big problem. Trying McMemamin, Devenney and Bradley on Sunday. I'd say it will be a 2 man FF line with Bradley moving out. McMenamin is a good player with an eye for goal tho could be abit small and who knows about Devenney if he doesn't get sent off! Think Leon Thompson should get more of a run though.

Donegal seem to be going well. A few new faces added to the panel. The McKenna Cup hasn't really been a test yet. UUJ, Down and Antrim plus an experimental Armagh. Cork was good tho Cork seemed not to expect such a physical battle. Revenge for the QF defeat last year methinks!

Sunday and Tyrone in the McKenna Cup Final on Sat week should tell us more. All going well good outside tip for the League with four Home games and with Armagh at home in the championship who knows! U have to be a dreamer if u follow Donegal!

MAyo have alot of new players as well as most of the ones from last year. Nobody retired.
James Kilcullen_ A new back- wondering where he was last year he is absolutly outstanding!
Austin O Malley- Although he was on the team last year he wasn't played but he is now and he makes a great contribution.
The same can be said for David brady, he wasan't played alot last year but really showed his skill on All Ireland day after he was introduced he practically kept Keiran Donaghy scoreless!
Better team than last year. It will be interesting to see how they fair against Donegal tomorrow!

I live in dreamland. :) Donegal are hard to beat in Ballybofey so my totally biased opinion is that we will win by two points.

Could somebody get Brandan Devenney to concentrate on the game and not arguing with the referee?

Ifs and buts! yurmothrintites - Something Donegal and Mayo share then! Brady should have been on from 5 minutes in. Can't believed Mickey Moran missed that. Dogs on the street could see it. Would have made for an interesting final if the change had been made. Seen Austin O' Malley play a few times on TV. Definitely looks like a good corner forward.

Smashey - was going to say that about Devenney. Half the reason he gets the attention from referee's is the moaning and the other half is even our own supporters get frustrated watching him. Would hope he would stop moaning about corner backs now he's back and just accept it. Have my worries tho about bringing him back. Is he 31 now?

Would give Donegal the slight edge seeing as its in Ballybofey. The game should tell alot about both teams. I see Letterkenny should be ready for the Kerry match to. Probably be a worse bottleneck than Ballybofey!

I really hope this match won't go to Letterkenny. Call me a traditionalist, but I think that a game of that stature should be played in the main ground.

    Saturday's results:

    DIVISION 1A:
    Dublin 0-14 Limerick 1-10
    Tyrone 0-14 Fermanagh 0-08
    Kerry 0-11 Cork 2-02

    DIVISION 1B:
    Laois 0-08 Galway 0-07

    DIVISION 2A:
    Monaghan 1-14 Longford 3-06

    DIVISION 2B:
    Cavan 0-17 Wicklow 0-10
    Antrim 1-11 Meath 2-11

I had a notion Antrim where going to it put up to Meath but didn't think they would do it. Same with Limerick and Louth. Can't see any other major surprises other than that. The reorganising of the League for next year is making it very interesting already. Nobody cared about 4th place before. And who wants to be in Div. 4. I think there could be 1 or 2 "stronger" counties there!

Definitely but sure Letterkenny gets everything else! 8,000 I hear is the capacity. I'd say it will be all ticket. They've done great work at St. Eunans together with Jim McDaid, but could be construed as an insult on the All-Ireland Champions. I'd say u would get 8,000 easily at Ballybofey if it wasn't all ticket. We got over 15,000 for a McKenna Cup Final against the then reigning All Ireland champions Tyrone not that long ago.

Looking at the fixtures again, maybe Leitrim will end Paudi's Honeymoon in Clare?

As a multiple sports fan I decided to stay at home to watch the rugger rather than trapse all the way up to Derry for the match. So I switched on the teletext score was Derry 3-10 Westmeath 1-9, thought disapointing but not unexpected, score was confirmed on the six o'clock news. Missed SundaySport thought it was on at 10 o'clock. Travelling to work this morning said the score was reversed couldn't believe it, what a result to go to Derry and beat them by seven points and top the table, anyone at the game? Martin Flanagan's return is a great boost to Westmeath a class player dogged by injuries, almost beat Meath on his own in that drawn match a few years ago. Maybe after reaching the All-Ireland Quarter-Final last year and winning Leister in 2004 we might just start to get a tiny amount of respect now.

We lost to Donegal but fair play to them. Tbh I was half expecting it as Donegal are very hard to beat in Ballybofey and are a confidence team. Anyone at the match? How was the performance?

I'd be happy this year if we won all our home games and get a result in Fermanagh and maybe Cork. Not really looking for victory against Tyrone in Omagh just a performance. It's vital to a least stay in the First Divison but I'd also like to see us making the semis as we will need the football since we're playin Galway first out the gate.

Not that impressed by Kerry again this week only Quill scored from play, similar to last week when most of their scores came from frees. But looking forward I'd say it'll be full back and centre back where they will have problems, can't see them winning it this year.
Cork very poor they seem to have gone backwards, Tyrone and Donegal the form teams.
Laois doing okay as are Armagh but only okay.

Dublin were mediocre against Limerick. Limerick hit a few bad wides in the first half and had two very good goal chances saved by Cluxton, but then scored a jammyarsed goal to somewhat make up for it. Galvin was a tower of strength for Limerick in midfield, but seemed to tire in the second half and Darren Magee took over.

David O'Callaghan in the first half, and Tomas Quinn in the second, kept the scoreboard ticking over for the Dubs. Stephen Cluxton made a superb save late on to deny what seemed a certain Limerick goal, and then in injury time Mossy Quinn nailed a 45 to secure the one point victory for Dublin.

Dublin will need a big improvement if they intend to give Donegal a game in Ballybofey on Sunday week. Though word from training is the Dubs are doing no ball work and are just working on stamina and strength at this stage of the season, so I'm not optimisitic about our trip to the wilds of the North West.

As far I know the Dublin match is in Ballyshannon Rooster. A win against the Dubs would set us up nicely for the rest of the league. Not getting to carried away though yesterday was a good win. I know it's only the league but it's better than Division 2.

The Dubs are definitely playing in Ballyshannon, and according to the local press, if St. Eunans get the work finished in time, Kerry will be playing in Letterkenny. Ballybofey is the County Ground and in my opinion it should host this game.

Anyway, Tyrone are giving Monaghan a good doing over at the minute in the semi final of the McKenna cup, so it is Donegal and Tyrone in the final on Saturday. This should be good as both teams are in form and looking to get a piece of silverware.

I'm hearing their support was mediocre against Limerick too. Will about a thousand fans be making the trip to Donegal too? What happened the other 81,000 that made their way to the game vs. Tyrone?
