Intel Wireless adapter not showing up on device list!

I just reinstalled XP Pro on my Dell Latitude D505.

I reinstalled all the drivers, but there is one piece of hardware that is not working - the "Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PCI Adapter".

In fact, its not even showing up on the list in Device Manager under Network Adapters, where it used to show up, and where it shows up in my other D505.

But what is showing up is "Network Controller" under the Other Devices section.

I've tried reinstalling the drivers for the wireless adapter, but i wonder if i didn't do it right.

CAN ANYONE HELP?? I LIVE OFF WIRELESS!

    First step, reboot.

Does it show in device manager? If so, is there a yellow exclamation mark beside it?

Download the latest drivers (presumably from Intel's website) and install them.

Let us know how you get on.

Go to the dell website. Stick your service tag in under the support section. Go to downloads and download the latest drivers for all your network cards/controllers. Install and reboot.

Tom I don't think the op can see the device in device manager. It is showing up under other devices as "network controller" presumably with a yellow exclamation mark.

Ah yes, got you now. So a driver install should in theory sort it.

Oops it's actually a different wireless adapter, it was a Dell Wireless 1350. I installed that driver and it works fine now. thanks for your help.
