Question about XBMC and PAL/progressive scan

    The xbox doesn't support progressive scan in PAL so you have to switch to NTSC, I understand this. However what happens when you insert a PAL dvd? XBMC can upscale it to 720p right?

    But how is that outputted to my tv? Because it's in NTSC mode does that mean it's actually being converted to 60hz (NTSC)? Or can it still output it as 720p 50hz despite the fact that the xbox is set to NTSC?

    I'm not totally sure on this XBMC forums may be a better place to ask but I noticed no problems when I used to use XBMC in the scenario you outlined I think they use some sort of hack/trick/compensation so PAL DVD's are playable under NTSC and vice versa. It's mentioned on the project page of XBMC I think...

    As for up scaling I cannot remember at all sorry it did do it for XviD but DVD I do not recall.
