    Hello,
just bought a microkorg...and i'm wondering how to use it as a midi controller...as there were no cables with it.

Can you get a Midi>Usb cable??
or do i need an adapter?
    or what??

Spot on, You can get one on the net fairly cheap. I picked one up in Music Maker in town (Dublin) for 60. Or if you have midi on your pc you can buy a midi lead, Maplin sell them cheap enough.

    EMU midi 1x1

This is as cheap as you're going to get.

Though for a small bit more cash I'd nearly recommend getting a second dedicated keyboard with more knobs as the microkorg is crap in this department, as well as having those mini-keys. For example, the alesis photon is a 25 key midi keyboard wth 12 knobs with 3 active layers and 40 controllers. That'll set you back 69 euro which is about the price of a midi>usb in town

Yeah you'd want to have a little Jeremy beadle hand to play on a microkorg

    Thanks for the help heads!

I ordered a midi>usb interface cable yesterday at 4 o clock after posting here..
the ****er arrived at half nine this morning.

I got it over the phone from Studio Solutions 01-8293540
I would STRONGLY recommend these fellows.
    I'm a frequent buyer on thomann.de too..but after this I may change.
Good to support the homegrown ****.

However..Jimi T...you are quite wrong in my opinion.

4 weeks ago i purchased the alesis photon as it was on sale for half nottin...
its a piece of absolute ****.
It plays like a childs keyboard with a horrible feel to it. The korg has a beautiful soft springy action.
Plus the assignable knobs are rubbish....you get to control "breath" and "modulation" but thats about it...even though it lists ****loads.
Having said that..it is perfect for beginners.

I sold it one week later, and got the Korg instead.

That's cool about the cable and everyone to their own with the controller methinks :) Personally I cant use my korg for notation but sure if it works..

Well to each his own - I've been playing piano for about 14 years and I'd far prefer moderately light action over mini-keys. As for the assignable knobs, you do realise that you could assign any knob to any parameter in your VSTi Host?
