lets say one had an elliptical tank (that is to say that it is an ellipse on plan and elevation, not a cylindrical tank with elliptical ends) with major axis A=2.5m and minor axis B=0.80m. The tank is lying horizontal, that is to say that the major axis is parallel with the ground.

If the tank contains liquid to a height of 0.32m, how does one calculate the volume of the liquid for this or any specific height?

I cant quite remember exactly what plan and elevation mean, but I guess theyre two viewing angles 90 degrees apart.

So does that mean that looking at it along the last axis, it looks circular?

Anyway, it should be just a 3D integral over the volume of the ellipse thingy. I don't have time now, but I'll look at it later.
