My Dell Inspiron has always been there for me day & night, but when I went to start her up this morning, out of the blue a message on the screen said "Disk Error" shut down & re-Boot.... I did this but still no joy... Anybody any ideas??

    crying would be good :D
Might be a SMART error in which case the drive probably still works but SMART knows its going to go soon. Get a new hard drive and try back it up with either a USB caddy or an IDE adapter.

Was it 'disk error unable to read/write to drive C:'? Your hard drive might (probably is) toist. :(
