I remember them well. Really liked these. I worked in a bar years ago where we had a 'lock in' for staff after closing on Saturday, the deal being we could have a few free drinks but only what was available on tap, no bottled drinks or spirits. The stocktaking system wasn't the most accurate so me and a couple of others would help ourselves to bottles of Smirnoff Mule. Pour 2 of them into a pint glass and it looked beer coloured enough to get away with :) I tried to recreate them myself much later with vodka, ginger and lime but it didn't taste anything like the one in the bottle.

I also remember the first time I tried Woody's - it was the pink grapefruit flavour (don't think that one lasted long) and it looked, tasted and smelled vile.

Got very drunk on that stuff one night. Tasted like cola bottles.

Haven't seen it anywhere in years.

On a related topic whatever happened to Bacardi Rigo, used to love the stuff (tad bit too fizzy tho)

Ah I remember these, and the rest. Woodies and Hooch were the first really well advertised alco-pops and I reckon because of that they really took the brunt of the whole anti-alcopop backlash. You can still get them in Galway though. :)

Moscow mule had the same taste and when you chewing a pencil and accidentally went all the way through the wood and bit the lead.

Don't think I had the mule as a wee girl, but I certainly had my fill of knacker drinking woodys and hooch. Dont remember the ads though, all I remember is woodys had a frog and hooch had a gangster style man on the bottle and a slightly higher percentage. And I also remember getting my bum stung on nettles as I was going for a pee. ow.

Cola Mugshot was my weapon of choice on the way to the Ice Party or the Deep or the Pulse. Mule came about when I was of drinking age, or near enough anyway so I remember having a few of these in McGrath's or the Back Gate, or even the Danny O Connell.
