    Hi there.
A few friends and I are planning to head to Prague for a few days at the end of June/start of July this year as a bit of a post-Leaving Cert "relaxation" break. Could anyone advise us on decent cheap accomodation (hotels or hostels) close to the city centre.
And what of the night life? Any decent pubs/bars/clubs you have come across?
    Thanks in advance,

    ObL

Prague is a stunning city and has great night life and lots of cheap places to stay.. we arrived there with no accomadation and this gut in the airport looked like a rep and approched us saying he had an apt which was absolutly sound it was in praha 1 which is the very centre of everything..
went to a good few pus and clubs, the first time i was there i went to see David Morales he is a house DJ in klub mecca which is a great spot

It's good, but the food is kinda crap unless you pay decent money.. if ur gonna eat out, dont bother doing it cheap. I enjoyed it when i was there about 3 months ago. Easy to make ur way around, u can walk to most places in the city. It's a fairly quiet city, didn't really see any ppl that'd be our age (18/19) but didn't really make a difference. Cashiers and waitresses can be kinda rude, i dono if it was cos of something we might have done or maybe it was just normal. But to be honest, none of the above would put me off going back.

I stayed at the golden sickle and loved it, it's just off the main street and fairly close to the train station (bout 5 minute walk) It's got a big open court in the middle and a full kitchen/bathroom to every 3 dorms. The staff are cool I went down to Cesky Krumlov with them for a week. If you do go to the sickle you can admire my exellent painting job in the room just before the luggage room.

I stayed in the Clown and Bard more recently, it was in November though and the place was fairly empty but I thought the sickle had a nicer dorm setup. If you do go the the Bard you can admire the exellent job I did of breaking the shelf unit they keep the keys in. Unless they fixed it.

    www.hostelworld has both.

I was there a couple of years ago and stayed in a place called Travellers Hostel. It wasn't too handy to the centre of activity, about 20 minutes walk but the standard was ok. I think they have another place a lot closer to Charles bridge though which would do fine. If that one was similar to the one I stayed in it would be ok and is probably similarly priced.
Like the others said, there's plenty of cheap accommodation around and http://www.hostelworld.com is a great place to start looking.

If you're looking for a nice "relaxing" nightclub check out the "Karlovy Lazne" club. I think that’s what its called. It's down one of the streets to the left, just before you get onto Charles bridge (from the city centre side).

It's supposed to be one of the biggest clubs in Europe I think with 5 or 6 floors maybe each with it's own theme.

I was there last Summer with a friend and stayed at this place on Opletalova Street (or something) just off Wensceles Square - I think it was Number 38, a youth hostel, big grey building. It had a really great atmosphere, cheap accomodation and this reallyfunny Ethiopian manager who could not have been nicer. Plan on going back in July and hopefully get the same accomodation.
