with the revenue and customs holding play.coms packages that have a value of over 22euro in order to get the purchaser to pay duty on the goods it looks like play have responded.

i ordered 3 books off em and when the packages arrived there was no indication on the label of the price of the goods within. ditto for my friend who recently got a DVD off em which cost more than the chargable amount but got through cause the usual label of "optical media" and the value of the good were replaced with just his name and address.

im not sure how long they'll get away with this but it looks like you can buy your games and DVDs without fear of confiscation by the authorities. at least untill they get the power to open your packages without your consent. :D

If I'm not mistaken they got that power centuries ago.

Not 100% sure but they might not even need a warrant to bust into your house looking for stuff.

They're based in Ireland aren't they? Shouldn't be any issues with them.

Sendit.com although based in Belfast actually post from the Channel Islands and every time I buy off them they put the full value on their packaging. As regards Play.com there is no vat or duty on books so there is no issue there. If they stop labelling all their packages I can imagine that all of their packages will be stopped. They would not be that stupid

Orders in euro currency are shipped from the UK by Sendit so anything we order, no matter what the value, are ok.

d'oh, forgot about the vat on books thing but they always used to label the DVDs as optical media and had the price clearly on the front.

another thing ive noticed is theyve started to bundle orders. used to be you order 3 items you got three packages. got a delivery today and the two items were packaged together. this happening to anyone else?

Now I'd hardly post up stuff I made up (although alot of people seem to do so on boards) would I !
I mailed them about this before Christmas as I had just ordered a good bit of stuff from them and then I heard about the whole customs furore, this is the reply I received.
    Hi xxx,

Euro currency orders are shipped from the UK, so your order will not be
    stopped.
