    Hey,

I was wondering if any of you guys have ever worked for Google? I've got an interview coming up and am just looking for some tips. It's a telephone interview and i know google are a bit quirky when it comes to interviewing techniques. Anyone got any points for the interview?

    Cheers,

    Morf3h

Well yes, if you've got this far. There have been threads before going through the ups and downs of Google's interviewing process. Ones especially relevant might be these http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/archive/index.php/t-2054889447.html and http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054933550

Three interviews, what kind of crap is that?!!!

Can anyone who works in Google tell us, were all these interviews successful in weeding out the usual amount of dossers, lazyabouts and annoying people that every company seems to have no matter how rigerous the interview process?

People who work in Google wouldnt frequent this board.
The interview process was most likely designed to weed out the type of people who do frequent this board. (timewasters, lazy, dossers, etc) ;)

Three is nothing, I've heard of a few people (know one personally) who have done way more than that and were still turned down.

Usually the more interviews you do with one company, the more confident you'll feel about getting it, just don't get your hopes up, from what I've heard Google keep interviewing people and even if they like you in the Irish office, Google (US) might still say no because they're very fussy (especially regarding education).

3 interviews isnt a lot for anything. If you have any level of experience and are going to do anything which you are accountable for I'd expect at the very least 3 interviews. 1 interview isn't going to reveal a lot.

You seem to know so much, you must be so smart, I can't say a word in front of so much smartness.

    *raises hand*

Yip, I did seven and still didn't get the job.

    Bastards.

It's your standard technical interview. There are two strands to it - what you know and what type of person you are. They are actually quite decent and don't expect you to know everything they ask you, so don't let that put you off.

The interviews are conducted 1 on 1, which I think is only fair.

they made me do a technical test, then a phone interview and then 3 interviews in a row at google - and then a no.

Best I thought was that they do not give out "interview feedback" - so I dont even know why I didnt get the job - am glad I didnt get the job anyway cause i got a better job in the meantime ;-)

From my experience they are also quite slow.... I applied for about 4 jobs in March or April last year. Went through the series of interviews for one job in july/august (whole process took about 6 weeks) and then got a mail from them 2 weeks ago about one of the other jobs I applied for...

I didn't even get an interview for a low level tech support monkey. :'(
(They have JOB CART like for net shopping on their site for gods sake BUY BUY BUY! :p )

I'm kind of glad now, any more than 2 interviews would be a pain in the hole!

    Good look to the OP.

All seems a bit corny to me, and just something unsettling about it too like a cult mentality. Besides cant stand someone who gushes about how great their job is, like that annoying friend who wont stop talking about how great their new boyfriend/girlfriend is.. Pass the bucket!
