Hand from 20k guaranteed

Hand from 20k guaranteed on Tribeca

I’d qualified from a feeder for $2 and had been playing (for me!) some pretty solid stuff, and picked up a couple of nice hands along the way

92 left, Blinds are 600, 1200, average stack c27000. I’m on around 16000 after getting rivered in a 20000 pot by a short stacks 77 v my KK 3 orbits ago. Not played a hand out of the blinds since.

Folded around to MP (around 45000, 2nd biggest stack on the table) who makes his standard move of raise to 3600. He’s not averse to a fold when played back at, only hand that’s gone to showdown he had 1010, but his preflop raise was bigger on that occasion. Folded to me in small blind with AhQh

Would imagine his range is any two picture cards, medium ace

Flat call and see what the flop brings, or just get it in there and then?

Thanks in advance for your replies

I argue to keep it simple and jam. You are not deep stacked enough to get tricky and if he folds you will have improved your stack by 33% when the blinds are taken into account. Great result. If he calls with JJ - 99 then so be it - win the race and you are right back in the tournament. You may soometimes get called by AJ in this spot by some muppets who just decide that you have a small pair. If you feel you are ahead I think it is best to stick it in now and avoid a tough flop spot when shallow stacked.

I like this, stick it in

If his range is that wide then shipping it is the only option.

I'd always move in on this position as you don't have the stack to flat call and afford to miss a flop, especially one where he could move you off the winner... you'd be very unlucky if he's playing QQ, KK, AA, AK ... if he doesn't call either it's not a bad thing as your taking down a substansial pot in your eyes without seeing a showdown. Your not in the worst shape to win the race. (if called)

Interesting to see what the outcome was. :)

    The outcome was .........

I shoved, he called & had KJo. King on the flop put him ahead, heart on the turn gave me more outs, but not to be. $6500 for $2 was always a big ask!!!

Thanks for your replies, still learning and have a lot more to learn yet, this forum helps no end
