Warning - Indian Embassy

    Hey all,
I thought I'd pass this on as a warning to anyone who is travelling to India and doesn't yet have their visa.

My brother's flying to India on Friday. He sent his passport plus all the forms to the Indian embassy a month ago. He checked with An Post and it was signed for. But he heard nothing. Now, unbelievable as it sounds, the Indian Embassy don't answer their phones. Ever. Neither do they answer numerous e-mails or faxes. Nothing.

So eventually, out of desperation, he took a day off work and came up from Kerry last night. He called into the Indian embassy and it was full of stressed unhappy people in the same boat. They hadn't even looked at his application. The unhelpful witch behind the counter then informed him that they would do it but he should call back on THURSDAY EVENING (he is flying out Friday morning). Restraining himself, he politely disagreed. Eventually, they agreed to do it today and told him to call back at 4.

The moral of the story - go in person. No point mailing cos they don't seem to even look at them. They don't answer the phones, don't reply to faxes and don't reply to e-mails. They are slow and uncooperative.

Take all that into consideration when you're planning.

    Good Luck,
    Quad

Heh heh... welcome to the third world son!!!

Any country which was a previous colony of Engerland shares its love of paperwork and beaurocracy.

If he thinks thats bad...wait till he gets to India!!!
