Just wondering if there is any other way of opening and closing a velux roof window except for one of the electrical devices or the velux long pole. I was thinking of something that used rope and pullys ??

Sounds like you could end up with something out of wallace & gromitt or a "heath robinson" type contraption.

Best stick with the manufacturers suggestions.
