What's everyones fancy for the supreme?

Clopf and Tidal Bay in the Supreme

The triumph is pretty difficult to call at the moment with so many of the entrants having little or no hurdle form to go on. 2 I reckon could be at very least good trading opportunities are Mobasher and Pouvoir who will both appreciate better ground and at 58/1 and 28/1 should be tradable at smaller prices nearer the time.

my tips for the Triumph are Goodbye Simon and Lounaos (my preffered of the 2).
Just a thought but are we going to have a Cheltenham competition like we are at the moment for Saturdays racing.

If we do it will be ran alot better than the saturday comp. That's totally my fault as I didn't see so many commitments coming up after I started it.

ya I think Clopf is the one for the supreme novices and no better man than EJ O' Grady to get him there fighting fit to do the job and bring this race back to Ireland again

If they really fancy this one a likely winner I think they'd be mad to let the above take the ride in the Festival Bumper.

Why? The lad may not be the best in the world, and has a somewhat unorthodox style, but he has a terrific strike rate. I think you should know by now that they're not the type of family who will bump him off for the big races. Remember he won the Champion Bumper on Rhinestone Cowboy and then went on to win an Agfa hurdle on the same horse.

Look at the horses he has been jocked up on,thats the only reason his strike rate is so good.If he didn't have his mammy, daddy and JP giving him the class horses to ride just because of who he is related to he would have no where near the amount of winners he has.His ride on Rhinestone Cowboy in the Coral Cup was one of the worst rides I have ever seen.

It was also Norman Williamson who rode Rhinestone in the Bumper and he was beat into second.

You missed my point and also answered Fr Wishy Washy's question all in one go there.

I've nothing against the lad whatsoever.I just think it would be a waste to let him ride the horse if the likes of a top flat Jockey became available.

If they see the horse as ordinary well fine let the lad rise him but if its a "pigeon catcher:rolleyes: " I'd be looking for MJ Kinane or similar to take over.

I'd always prefer to have a NH jockey riding for me in a bumper.

Aye...twas the November bumper so. Still a big race and your point remains invalid in my opinion.

Just wondering has it been decided which race Aran Concerto is running in yet? I see he's quoted @3/1 for the Ballymore Properties Novice Hurdle and 10/1 for the Supreme Novices Hurdle.

Ballymore props hurdle i'd say.I dont particular like magnier style of riding.I would not like to see him on judge roy bean either. Role on Chelt.Excitement is starting to kick in now.watching lots of past dvds of the festival on the TV every night now driving my girlfriend up the walls......... Only 36 days to go...yahoooooooooooo

    5 weeks today lad. :)

Crumbs: I'm the same. Took the week off when I was in college. Can't imagine working during it to be honest with ya. This week off has a higher priority than my sun holiday this summer. I'm not going to make the same mistakes I made last year, however.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭Hoofer

Sjones: Same with me.I always took the week off college to watch it.Now I go across the water every year.It all starts at the bar in Dub airport playing 25, drinking pints and trying to read the racing post at the same time.......Hope we get off to a flying start this year and win the supreme novices, this really gets the paddies havin the craic on the first day as they know an Irish win in the CH will surely follow

only going over for the 1st 2 days, 4 is too long and the dire card that is thursday polutes the festival. Starting a new job on the 1st of march so may not get to see the action thursday and friday :(

Clopf is probably the value in the supreme but the drift on betfair would be off putting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 111 ✭✭Hoofer

Ya, im not a fan of this four day lark. The thursday is not a great card in comparison to the other days.I fancy clopf for the supreme too.Hopefully he might do a "skys the limit" job on it!!!!!
