Mate, if you find anywhere give me a shout!

I have dreads for nearly ten years now and it's nigh on impossible to get someone in this town to do them.

There's a girl who has been doing mine for years and I've had to follow her around all the places she's worked - Lunatic Fringe, Ice (I think that's what it's called in George's Str Arcade), Esprit in IFSC and now she's just opened her own place in Drogheda - she is very good at it. However, getting up to Drogheda is the difficult bit!

I have only gone to one of the African places once and found it quite poor as they did not use Bees Wax, if they used Bees Wax (and not the synthetic stuff) then I'm sure it would be much better as they spent ages redoing my dreads.

One thing you have to keep in mind is that if your hair is not naturally extremely curly then you'll have to get your dreads tidied every few months (which I have to do), but I think it's well worth it.

If you do get somewhere I'd say it'll cost you over €200 unless you get someone to do it as a nixer who is a student or something, I have seen a few ads around. When I got mine put in (ten years ago) it cost £171 so expect to pay!

If your hair is not too curly you might actually have to get it permed first as well so you might be better going to a reputable place... and make sure real bees wax is used, you can buy "bars" of bees wax in some health shops or you can melt down a bees wax candle, I've not seen any product that holds dreads together like bees wax.

Let me know if you find somewhere in town - cheers!

I have been looking aver here for ages, and can't find anywhere, I'd love dreads but am terrified of ending up with **** looking ones as so many people seem to have in Dublin.

I'm now considering booking a cheapy weekend in London and getting them done over there, it's meant to be way cheaper over there cause there loads of really good places to go.

I guess I'm a little more wary cause I'm a girl, and don't want to have to chop all my hair off if they make a balls of them.
