Anoyone else expecting the lights to come on immediately in one big flash?

It was literally one light bulb turning on individually.

Not sure about electricity, but they could have a patent on anti-climaxes. Riveting tv!

I have to say you could barely sense the atmosphere...........sounded like the band were playing in an empty barn.

I don't think TV did it justice.

Ha! Yeah. To cap it off all they needed was a man dressed up as a giant ham sandwich doing a jig in the middle of the park!

Good god no. If they all came on at once, it would have possibly blown the fuse and left most of North Dublin without electricity. But it was still too much of an anti-climax alright. Must say, the lights heat up quick enough. All it took was one short ad-break.

Maybe, one of the founders of the GAA was a guy called Michael faraday...?

actually i read they're ran off two generators because the load of turning them on would be too much for the grid on the north side. they also have a number of settings for different sports and if the game is being covered by TV or not. Id imagine when the tv cameras arent there it would be like playing under street lights with an empty can on the way home from the pub :D

There's more skills playing like that than we'll see once the irish soccer team get their chance on the Croker turf! :D

Anyway, enough of that foreign game. Was great to be at the first match. Gotta say, it was funny seeing all the folk who'd never been to a GAA match, let alone croker. Spotted groups of D4 lads all wearing the brand new kit, collars up over their Abercrombie hoodies... plenty of couples even dressed up for it! :D
Wonder will they keep it up and head round to Parnell next time...
Good to see it though. Shame Dublin didn't get a commanding victory, as I'd image many won't bother with the League.

It was good to have been there. A disappointing result for me. If you check the video clips thread, you'll see I have highlights of the match's first half put on YouTube. I have video of the second half two which I have to edit and then get it up online.
