ok, i downloaded google earth early today. played with it a few times.

10 minutes ago it acted funny on me. the mouse was in the little colour wheel mode. it stayed that way for ages. i could not do anything. i could not even get dashboard.

So i put my finger to the back of the computer and turned it off.
I have tried a few time to get into mac while it is starting back up (my finger on the apple button) ( my finger not on the apple button) no matter what i do i end up in windows bootcamp.

I have parallels also just as well i kept bootcamp or i would be buggered now.

    Any help please.

To choose between OSX and XP at startup you need to hold down the option (alt) key not the command (apple) key. What you did was actually zap the PRAM which worked because it also resets your startup drive to default.

The next time an application freezes up like that press command-option-esc to try a force quit.

If you actually installed Windows under bootcamp then there should be an icon in the Windows Control Panel folder called "StartUp Disk" Use this to set the startup disk to which ever you want.

I plan to hold onto bootcamp for a little while longer. But i plan to dump it. parallels is perfect for what i want windows for. I dont play pc games (xbox and PS2, i use) so i dont really need bootcamp.

When i went to reg my windows copy in paralells i ran into a problem, so i rang microsoft and told them the story about how i reg. my windows copy in bootcamp and that i want to set up paralells, the man helped me out and fixed it for me. my windows copy is reg. for both places.

triple h, are you using the same Bootcamp partition for Parallels? Or have you a separate disk image with xp?

I don't see any harm in holding on to Bootcamp. It's only in beta remember and won't be officially released till Leopard arrives. I think we can expect many new features and improvements in the final version, it may even make Parallels obsolete.

    really. oh, interesting.

I have it on a separate disk image.

OK, i will hold onto it a bit more. I dont need the space yet, anyway.

the google earth app. freezed again, i pressed command-option-esc this time, ( i made a note of this) but no joy, i had to hit the off button on the back of my imac and restart.
for awhile i was wondering which would happen first , the force quit to work for me or the horse i picked in last years grand national to finally cross the finish line.
