Im heading to thailand/vietnam/cambodia/laos in march for 11 weeks, just wondering has anyone done this without booking anything as in getting to Bangkok and getting flights from there to phuket, and just finding somewhere to stay then, and take things from there?

There's one thing we're definitely doing that's 'the full moon party',anybody been there?whats it like getting accommodation and best times to arrive?

    Thanks.:D

Do a search for SE Asia. There's been a lot of info here in the last few months.

    Hello
I just did that route from last Sept to Nov.
Flying into Bangkok is handy for further travel in SE Asia.
You dont need to book anything really, just head for Ko Shan Road and its packed with accomidation. Its very touristy but a good place to get yer head around the new country.
All the facilities are there for plane/train/bus/boat tickets, lots of tour agencies.
I'd just land in BKK and then improvise from there, get the taxi or bus from the airport to Ko Shan. Thailand is very easy to travel in everything is modern and they know how to deal with tourists well.
Soi rattubiri (sp?) behind the temple of Ko Shan is a quiter place to stay also.

Full Moon is cool, very very very packed and can be quite messy. Its a good laugh but I recomend keeping your wits about you.
I get to Ko Phang Ngan a day or two before if you wanna stay around Had Rin Beach. You could just stay on Ko Tao or Samui and get the ferry over to the full moon.

Chang Beer and Buckets await you ( and Changovers)

    Good Luck

IMO (and opinions are relative), the full moon pary is very very overrated - and much much different to what I had envisaged. I'm sure the original full moon partys were quite different to what they've evolved into now.

Very easy to pick up cheap short haul flights out of BKK. Air asia for starters - and there are others. You should pickup either a rough guide or lonely planet so that you always have access to basic info.

full moon parties suck, the originals would of been cool, but now its just like been in spain, plus theres a lot of corruption going on and everywhere is over priced, avoid, chill out on Phi phi instead
