Hey, I've been looking at 2 polo's, both 1997 1L, and both have around 1 years NCT.

one has over 100,000 miles on it, fsh (which looks good) and is going for around 2000.

second has just over 70,000 miles on it, no fsh and has a warranty. going for around 2500.

    What do ye think?

I'd definetly go for the one with Full Service History, a 1 Litre engine is usually driven pretty hard. regular servicing goes a long way to maintaining the engine.

At that age you'd want to be checking what parts have been replaced recently ..
Is it due a timing belt change ?
Hows the exhaust .. If rusty its probably been used for alot of city driving.

Checked for any variations in paint and under the bonnet for any different paint or oil splatter ( a little isn't too bad)
Most of all .. give it a drive... look out for any noises coming from the car on full steering lock and see if it pulls in either direction on a straight.

The polo is a grand solid little car when looked after :)
