I need a new accountant

I've been thinking of moving to a new accountant for some time, and after tonight's meeting with him I realize I need to do this now.

I have a small co, with some captial investment, and I draw a salary. It's a fairly simple setup - i don't really show any revenues, so all that happens now is he records my PAYE/PRSI and fill in my P35 (with which he is late). There is nothing really going through the books, and I do most of the admin and filing and bookkeeping myself. Additionally he tells me different things everytime re how i can claim rent etc back (i have a home-office), and gets annoyed when I ask him to explain something to me. This is not how one should treat their clients.

He is charging me around 250 euros for the years work, so hopefully somebody can offer me the same service. I am hoping though that business will pick up this year.

I'd prefer if the new accountant was in the Blackrock area, so closer the better, but I am open to any suggestions.

If you are interested, please PM me.

    TIA

Well for that price you can not expect much.

I agree, a "good" could charge anything from a grand to 10k depending on the size of the company, audited a/c's could cost more

    Yeah.
Well from my freelance's friends and myself, we pay an average of 2000 euros a year (VAT, Payroll, Expenses..)
    But the accountant does everything.

Not an insignificant amount of money, but in the scheme of things for €250 you’re only going to get a very basic service.

Two things – If you do all the bookkeeping already you should be able to do all the services your present accountant is doing (which leads me to think why he’s so reluctant with his info). Filling in a P35 and writing up a Form 11 is not rocket science.

Also, unless he’s VEEEEEEERY late, he has until the 15th of this month to submit your P35.

    Good luck.

I'll drop you a PM. All I can do is refer you to were I work. As far as price goes, I don't have a clue as I don't do the billing.
