This is the only type of insulated cavity block I could find:

    http://www.roadstone.ie/products/Blocks/SafeWarm.htm

Could anyone please tell me if they've used these or if they think there's a better way of insulating an existing house where the roof is being raised and an upstairs built with new gables?

would you not be better off with an insulated plasterboard throughout?

It seems I would. Roadstone told me that the Safe Warm are very difficult to lay, and have to have tough rendering on them because they can sag!
