Travel guide author wants your recommendations!

    Hello everyone,

I've written a few travel guides in my time, focusing on the "hidden gems" within a number of European countries.

I'm currently spending a few months in the West of Ireland, catching up with a few friends and thoroughly enjoying all that this beautiful region has to offer.

When people realise I'm a travel guide author, they often divulge their favourite hotel, guest house, B & B, picnic spot etc. This word-of-mouth advertising is more powerful than any glossy brochure and I, for one, am far more inclined to stay somewhere based on a personal (unbiased) recommendation than any other media.

Recently, I decided to compile a new visitor guidebook to Ireland, based solely on the recommendations of people whom I meet during my travels or online through forums and chat rooms such as this.

I would love to hear your recommendations as to where are the best places to stay in Ireland. I don't care whether it's a small family-run guest house, ramshackled farmouse B&B, or luxury 5 star hotel. All I ask is that you give me the name and a brief outline of what, in your view, makes the place so special.

It would really help if the info could be provided in the following format:

Name & address of establishment: (self explanatory)
Your relationship to the owners of this establishment: (please state none if applicable)
Reason why place is so special: (example could be the size of the beds, humour of the proprietors, quality of the food etc.)
Your name & county of residence: (e.g. Mr. Luc Quisenaerts, Co. Clare)

(Sorry to get all legal, but you will appreciate that, in providing your recommendation, the implication is that you are happy for me to publish all details supplied)

Once I have a suffiicent number of recommendations, I plan to visit as many as possible over the course of the next few months and share my own observations in the guidebook (which my publishers hope to release in Autumn '07).

Please send your thoughts to me via PM. I will acknowledge each one personally.

Thank you very much for your time and I hope to hear from as many of you as possible.

    Salutations.
