    Hi,

I'm looking to convert a load of old videocasettes to digital.

I'm thinking of buying a GeForce 7300GS 256MB DDR2, PCI-Express for my Athlon 3800+ (Venice) (only have integrated 6150LE at the moment)
    It seems to have DVI.

Would that be a practical option?

Many thanks in advance for any help on this matter.

You could get a tv card, something like the hauppauge pvr-150 that does hardware encoding would work well. Just feed the video and audio from a vcr and press record on the pc, gives you mpeg2 output, which is relitively easy to transfer to dvd. Also hardly uses any cpu power for the recording

a better video card won't matter too much unless it has video input features

you could also buy a set top box dvd recorder, and do things without the pc
