Pixmania are terrible

A bit of a rant here so bare with me:o
First ever purchase online and I have to say ,miserable delivery.
I orderd various bits and pieces from them last week and they arrived yesterday.
One pack of batteries were open ,which didn't charge last night.
The packaging would have damaged a brick.
They charged me extra on items ,for some zen guarantees. 6 or 7 euro for a guarantee on a sandisk memory card

Plus they charged for sets of 4 batteries that were packed as 3 for 4.(17 euro a pack)

Never again ,they weren't that cheap either so I presumed a reasonable output.

Have you contacted them regarding your order? Some people I know have had terrible experiences with after sales support but I haven't had an issues luckily enough.

Ruu ,thanks anyway but part of the reason I ordered was to see what they are like.
I've loads of stuff that I will be buying in the future ,not from pixmania though.
Let them carry on as they do ,I won't waste my money on them again.
I'm sure komplett is more competent with deliveries etc.

    Take it easy,

    Brian.

the Zen guarantee thing is optional, though you have to untick it IIRC.

i wouldnt say komplett is that brilliant either , none of this sites have brilliant reputations when it comes to replace faulty goods but this internet buying is a bit of a gamble and you have to be aware of that
even if you re lucky enough to get a replacement it will take time..
sounds a bit crazy thinkin of consumer rights etc but thats the way it goes
i would try gettin in touch with your cc company as well , see if they can do anything for you about a possible extra charging.

I've had no problem with Pixmania. Made my first order with them last week for a camcorder. Came very quickly and well packaged. The Zen guarantee is optional but it's not very clear how to unsubscribe from it.

I ordered a GPS before X-mas - arrived by DHL 2 days later. Perfect transaction allround. I even had a tracking number once it shipped!

It looks like I need to hold my hands up on this one ...
Expecting too much maybe ,my stuff wasn't well packed though.
The box was burst open and the goods were loose inside.

I'll probably give it another go ,considering it was my first time.

How are goods normally shipped ?,in original packaging or inside a second box?

The only time I used them it was inside a 2nd box. All items arrived promptly in pristine condition (using DHL), no problems with any of the items and will likely use the site again....although the buy up by dixon's group is a worrying development; I hate that f*cking company.

I didnt have a great experience with them. Just before Christmas this year I ordered a Digital Camera and an xd card which both were advertised as being in stock when I clicked "buy" . Then it turned out they didnt have the camera. So the memory card was shipped and a few days later the camera was shipped. However they both arrived within a day of each other in top shape. I was doing a little bit of over-fretting admittedly!! But was well peeved at the time coz I tawt I wasnt going to have it in time for chrismas. Oh yea it was the girlfriends pressie!!

But I would use them again

    I've had 3 dealings with them , 1 perfect order .. 2 nightmares ... both nightmares were for a 40 -50 euro DVD player.

1 is still outstanding..bought dvd player for friend before xmas in november. player took 3 - 5 days to arrive (fine) ... opened box and saw the drive drawer was broken. Applied to send it back and UPS'd it back to them.

They then said they'd no record of the return. I had UPS tracking so sent them the receipts. Then they said they found the return and would send it back to manufacturer for repair ??? Even though I had (unknowingly) bought zen engagement. Its now been over 3 months since origianl order and my friends still not gotten his dvd player ... I've sent numerous emails / threats to reclaim money from card but still have not got it sorted. IMO there after sales service is TERRIBLé ....

I ordered a home dvd player from pixmania last week €60 + Del,..this week it came,....well a box arrived & when I opened it there was a lovely 17" LCD monitor inside..:( I managed to contact a real person & she apologised, asked me to print out the return forms, sign them & she will arrange for the item to be picked up & returned, only then will they send my dvd player.

Silly me,......why didn’t I keep my gob shut & hang on to the €200euro monitor & order another €60euro dvd player ;);) !!!!! that would have been a much quicker route.

Don't bother with the Express Delivery. There's nothing express about it.

Gotta say i've never personally had a problem with pixmania. But recently my boss had cause to send a digital camera back to them as it had stopped working. First off pixmania wouldn't take it back - claiming it had to be sent back to the manufacturer and that they had no legal obligation to my boss. (item was still under warranty). So he sent it back to the manufacturer's irish office, who in turn sent it onto some crowd in cork. Now this crowd in cork have come back saying the item is broken (well duh!), and that it was most likely caused by the owner dropping it, as hence is not covered by the warranty. Now they want €70 to cover the cost of them diagnosing this problem or else it will be sent back to the manufacturer for destruction. Destruction date is set for tomorrow..

I had to ring that crowd in Cork (assuming its a sony camera) they were awful - the girl on the phone was common as muck and so unhelpful - She made it sound like no matter what I did they wouldnt repair my camera under guarantee - I just cut my losses and bought a new one.

Re: pixmania - yeah they're fine unless something goes wrong - I bought a phone which stopped working - they told me to call manufacturer, which was a disaster - it would make me think twice about using them.

I've still not been refunded or sent a replacement DVD player :-( ... When it comes to after sales service they are terrible

They are absolutely terrible. I bought a digital camera from 'Horrible Pixmania' and a day after the 14 day return period it conveniently broke. It's quite difficult to work out how their ridiculous returns procedure works via the site and I've just received a mail today saying my camera has "been sent to an authorised workshop to complete the necessary repairs.

We will be contacting the workshop regularly to obtain a fixed date of return of your repaired product.

However, I would like to inform you that the treatment times depend on the workshops and noted faults, this period can extend up to 40 days."

They received that camera 11 days ago. So that gives them 29 days to further piss me off after which I'll be hitting them with every bit of annoyance I can muster.

Anyone who buys from them is mad imo, if I had read some of the threads here first I NEVER would have bought from them in the first place.

Theres too much choice out there now to bother with this type of carry on.

    Useless F:eek: :( s

Slightly OT, but has anyone else noticed the "thinning out" of the range of goods that pixmania are sellingon their Irish site? I'm currently shopping for some AV stuff and pixmania's other EU stores show up on google searches for products I'm after....yet when I try and source the itme on the Irish site, it's not listed.
We also seem to pay a fair bit more for an inferior range of goods, that cannot be attributed to VAT differences alone.

I think the DSG group have well and truly set their sights on taming a site that used to be the no1 place to go and find cheap electrical goods, no doubt to the benefit of their other interests in the UK/Irish high st and with their online business.
