So I'm using windows media player and browsing at the same time. any time i scroll down the page, WMP starts playing like a broken record (or a scratched CD for you kids out there). It has happened before, but was fine yesterday.
I closed all unneccessary processes, rebooted and so forth and that hasn't worked. I also set the process to high priority. still no joy.
    XP, 900mhz, 512 RAM.
    any suggestions?

    No.
The PC is old and put together from salvaged bits of old broken PC's, but it normally works fine.

Having the same problem here. Sounds like a dirty CD head especially when trying to open a new application it can completely stall a song. Any advice???
