Hi all - girlfriends pc packed up today -

    win xp sp2

wont boot up win. at all - just white writing on black background with standard options to boot using last known good config etc

wont start with last known good config or in safe mode
error reads in a small box "services.exe the appl. failed to initialize properly 0x0000033 click ok to terminate" when u click ok you just get a blank black screen with your mouse cursor.

dont have xp disk only win2k disk

should i type something into command prompt to start it?

    Thanks.

Sounds like you might need to do a repair installation, there was no recovery disc of any sort with the machine?

also try bootcfg it automaticlly scans for win installtions and configs and repairs the boot.ini

    2nd hand pc i wonder???

not a second hand pc although her brother did f*k it up within two weeks of her buying it - no reinstallations disks whatsoever
I was using it last night it was slow as usual but no major issues (usually takes a solid 5mins to boot up and hald that to turn off).
nothing has been installed recently. Thanks for the feedback.
