just got a sky dish and box installed. All channels working fine except irish stations. When i try view them i get a message saying this programme is not available. I manually tuned them and stored them. No change. I rang sky who informed me I can only view certain programmes because of broadcasting restrictions? Surely this isnt right? Is there any way for me to tune in rte through my dish? sorry if this has been discussed already.

i only watch RTE via sky and havent had any problems. ohhh there was a sporting occasion one time that restricted its viewing and i think it was a GAA match

When did you get it installed?

It can take up to 8 hours for the Irish channels to become available so don't panic unless it's been much longer than that.

    Lego Man!
Where are you? Assuming you are in the Irish Repuplic unplug your digibox from the mains and press the On/Off switch to dump any power remaining. Plug the box back in and wait a minute or two and turn the box back on. This may cure your problem.

got it installed early yesterday morning. So far havent been able to view any irish stations/programmes. I manually tuned some bbc/utv stuff and its working fine. I'll ring the buggers again. I got the variety mix in my bundle which says it includes rte. anyone got the rte freq handy?

The sky rep probably thought that you were ringing from uk. You must ring again and stress that you are ringing from the republic of ireland. You can't get rte onless you are subscribed. It is not free to view on sky, unlike utv,itv and all bbc's.

Afaik they are available only if you subscribe to the variety mix. I got it installed and it took about 2 days for them to appear.

Worked right away here, checked when the installers where here.

OP, see if you can view Channel 5 , that will let you know for sure if you are on a UK sub by mistake instead of an Irish one.
