Hi, aaroadwatch.ie suggests a route from Santry to Cork CC and it suggests that the Total time should be 2:53 hours. Now I've done the trip according to their advice (off peak traffic too) and it took quite a bit longer than that to complete.

A mate was suggesting something about using the Jack Lynch tunnell? Basically can anyone help? I'll be doing the journey on Saturday morning now.

You would only use the Jack Lynch tunnel if your going to the southside of city or heading west to Bandon or Macroom .If you are going to the centre city there no point in using the Jack Lynch tunnel!

This doesn't allow for breaks or congestion, etc.

I have to say I think that 2h53 for Santry to Cork is somewhat ambitious I would have said no matter how clear things are if you are sticking to speed limits and not running red lights.

My Father drove from Dublin Airport to Glanmire in 2 and a half hours, during the night, in the early 1970's; so it is possible. And there were no motorways.

Very little traffic, traffic lights and no speed checks in the early 1970's. Easily done then! ;)

takes me 2:10 from Portlaoise to Mahon point area, on a Sunday evening leaving P'laoise at around 8o'c. That's doing the speedlimit or slighly above it where able.
There's no way you'd get from Dublin, even Newlands Cross to P'laoise in 30/40mins, so AA timing couldnt be right. AA claims 1hr 53 for P'laoise to Cork, that's an average of 55mph and travelling via Fermoy not M8.

Takes about 90 mins to get from Dublin to Port Laoise usually. The worst part of trip is generally getting from centre to Dublin to beyond the M50. After that, you're usually flying.
