    Hi all

Its time to service the alfa romeo (well its overdue) and for the first time it looks like im going to have to go to a main dealer because it has high mileage (-so i need to keep up the FSH).
The car has been serviced since new with Cogans Toyota in Cork (in its previous life as a company car). I live in Dundalk and dont know where to go for a service. There is a toyata dealer here (Meehans) which i could go to seeing as it was previously serviced by toyota or I could travel to Belfast or Dublin to go to an Alfa garage (belfast garages wants £310 stg for service and new brake pads) but I know if i do i will end up paying a fortune.
I used to just get my mechanic to do my old car who is a good guy who does great work and is very reasonable but I dont really want to put off any future buyers by not having the FSH while i owned it.
Can anyone recommend a good alfa servicer who will give a service report for the service history and is reasonable?
or should i just use one of the local main dealers?
would i be ruining my future resale chances by using my own mechanic and getting him to sign for it and not using a main dealer who will stand by the servicing?

(sorry for the long windedness :o )

Most people who own Alfas will tell you that Alfa Romeo main dealers are very poor and should be avoided unless you have no other choice.

Gerry Cambell from Ti Autos in Dublin always comes highly recommended by Alfa Romeo owners on this forum. He is not an Alfa Romeo dealer but specialise in them and knows his Alfas inside out. I have heard he is usually booked solid so your best bet is to give him a ring.

Yea, he is very good, but as said, book well in advance, he isnt cheap, but he will only do the work that is required and he does all the work, not some youngfella with a spanner and a hammer.
If you are not going to Gerry or another Alfa garage then go with your normal mechanic, Toyota dealerships are not going to be any more familiar with Alfa's than your mechanic, so no need to pay main dealership rates.
