converting dat file to wmv

    Hi,
    Anyone know any good apps to convert a dat files to wmv or avi.

    You mean .dat files from a VCD ?

    If so (possibly) AutoMKV, Mediacoder or Super might do it.

    Never really messed around with those so if the .dat file is just an .mpeg container with a different extension if you rename .mpeg you may be able to feed it into any regular conversion program like AutoMKV or WMV Muxer/Encoder, possibly Windows Movie maker as well.

    renaming the files to .mpg or .mpeg should work if not use vcdgear, any reason why it needs to be rencoded to wmv?? to play on xbox 360 or some such?

    as suggested by Eoghan25 above try super, Super is quick and easy but the quality is going to suffer a little in the conversion process.

    thanks for the responses..ye it is for xbox 360 i am using tversity which is converting on the fly but it is not picking up dat file. i only have one so i am
    too pushed in messing around with settings for it as i have working perfectly for everything else so conversion seems to be the way to go
