There are media streamers you can acquire which can stream your content form the PC to the TV this is about the best you will get.

The AppleTV is one of these devices but it is locked to Apple's own video formats however it is running a x86 PC inside it (unlike most media streamers) so their will be plenty of hackers will to unleash it's full capabilities given time.

At the moment one of the best is called the Zensonic 500 which combines a DVD player with one of the best chipsets and media streaming but it is not available in Europe

Basically you get a DLNA UPnP playback device and use software like Windows Media Connect (now part of WMP11) to share out the media.

However there are far better UPnP server out there like Twonky Vision, Wizd, Tversity & Swisscentre that unlock additional functionality are are generally much better than the stock UPnP Windows server or whatever gets thrown in the box.

Take a look at these streamers to get an idea, Komplett do not have exactly a wide selection but the Pinnacle Showcenter 200 is a fairly well known model. It comes with Scart & S-video outputs plus it can decode MPEG-2, MPEG-4 ASP (XviD) & WMV.
