Pleeease somebody help! I cant fly. I hate it. i've been to the doc twice and he keeps giving me beta blockers. there must be better something I can take? I fainted the last time I was suppose to get on a 6 hour flight and since havent been able to get back on a plane. I have explained how serious it is to my Doc but I dont know if he just isnt getting it or there is nothing more I can take. I love traveling and I want to be able to get on 16 hour flights to get to the toher side of the world. So please any suggestions would be so welcome.

Go to a different doctor. My aunt is terrified of flying and her doctor usually gives her a very low dose of a benzodiazepine to get her through the flight. I know they don't usually like giving them out but it's not unreasonable to look for something a little stronger than a beta blocker when you're that scared of flying...

    A curious one.

I encountered a girl once on a flight to Europe. She fainted during the take-off acceleration and then revived very quickly with no problem A week later the same girl was on the return flight to Dublin and exactly the same thing happened !

In one way it was amusing and she certainly found it funny. However, it must be pretty distressing for others.

If you are taking sedation be really careful NOT to be tempted to knock yourself out as you will need to be able to rouse yourself quickly if there is an emergency and you need your wits about you !

Oops ! I should not say this to a nervous flyer but, for your safety, I hope that you appreciate the point .........

Yeah what everyone else said, get some benzos, xanax or valium. If your doctor won't give them to you go to a different doctor, most have no problem giving them out in my expierience.

Obviously the doctor will have to examine and decide if you need these drugs. It would be a sad day if these these drugs were given out freely without any care.
