As far as i know this was made available in late december 2006, I havent really made an effort to look for it but i havent seen it in my usual locals

Is it available in your local?

    Anyone tried it? opinions?

Most pubs in Dublin would have it.

It's not great... The Toucan brew was much nicer... but I suppose North Star is nicer than the first one they did... Brew 39 or what ever it was called.

Oh.. and there is a Beer, Wine and Spirits forum.

Since i was on the subject i posed the opinions question.

I'd be more interested to know if it can be found in my vicinity to try it for myself. im not even sure if the original brew tastes the same to me as it does to others

After hours seemed more appropriate since i dont really want a debate about alchohol, just a better chance at a wide enough audience from my region

Hmmm.. was drinking it on Saturday night and thought it was just ok. I wanted to give it a decent shot so had 5/6 pints like, but won't be doing that again. IMO it was a big watered down.

Guinness put together tasting teams for the new brews that they bring out, couldn't make it to the North Star one.. had I made it I would have told em to feck it down the sink and stick with the aul Tucan.

    Tucan ftw! :D

You should have posted in you regional forum - there's even two for Tipp.

Never mind, back to the drink. I've had it and was not impressed. Even though it's smoother than Guinness it still doesn't beat Murphys. I'd rather have a proper Guinness or a Murphys than this stuff.

well you can get in allmost all the pubs in mayo..but ya its allrihgt i didnt like the toucan brew and this one tastes a bit wierd..still ok tho.good for a laugh or just to break the constant stream of standard guiness that id probably normally be drinking

I keep mentally placing "Fist Of The" before the name. I'm sure I can't be the only one, can I?

Is there anything specific about the taste? Should I bother buying a pint next time I'm out?

Saw the ads for it while in Galway in October 2006. Hotel bar did not have it.Hoped to get some in the states when I got back. Not at my local. Maybe in Boston. On the subject: Why are the Guinness ads in Ireland done in such a tasteful manner (music, scenery, messages) while here in the US all we get is two cartoon bollix spouting the words "Brilliant!" Obviously the ads target a more sophisticated clientel in Ireland. Good on ya!

I far far FAR prefer it to normal guiness. It's smoother and somewhat lighter, but that said I normally drink Smithwicks when I do drink pints.
