No problem at all to change your User ID and keeping your other account information, you can change it once in 30 day period to prevent confusion for others.

Ive done a name change before, no problem at all, your ID will be tagged with a small symbol for 30 days to show that you have changed it, and anyone trying your old name will be linked to your new one.
