bringing money over to the states

    hey guys
    hope ye all had a good wkd
    im goin ove to boston in march
    wondering how to bring my money over there
    i have an account wiht permanent tsb
    they said my card is cirrus enable but it doesnt bear the cirrus symbol
    dunno whether this i strue or no though
    anyone know?

    If they said it was cirrus enabled then you should be safe enough.

    ptsb atm cards afaik are not able to work outside the country but the laser one do that what i was told when i rang up open 24 the last time i was away so if its a new atm card it might be different but laser defo works mine has the symbol on the back bottom left corner

    not tsb, but years ago AIB told me my card was cirrus enabled, but had no cirrus sign on it, so i walk away happy, then low in behold, i get to Majorca and the card didn't work - it weasnt fcuking cirrus enabled, make sure you check this out properly

    i would suggest a credit card to be honest,the fees for using a laser/cirrus card are ungodly(some places charged me $2 just for putting the card in)

    less fees to use the credit card,its what i always use when im there and if u clear the balance monthly no interest fees either

    I always load my credit card and therefore pay no withdrawal fees when over there. F/X rates are generally competitive too on your credit card.
