I have a few new imacs in a public area. I have locked access so customers can only access a particular program. I have turned off sound in the control panel but they can still turn it on using the keyboard. is there a way to disable this?

There's not meant to be a way to disable it really -- guess you should've bought some Mac mini's instead, eh? ;)
Hmm... you could leave a stereo extension cable in the audio-out port of the iMacs (secure it with a lock or something) -- that way, the internal speakers will be disabled, and your customers can listen to stuff if they need to. Or you can just hide the cable ;)
