I received four in the post today after registering on the Nintendo website weeks ago. The strap is now notably thicker and therefore stronger and less prone to breaking. The straps also came with the following note:

The following tips are advised for safe play:
    - Always wear the wrist strap while playing
    - Keep a firm grip on the Wii Remote at all times
    - Make sure people and objects are out of the range of movement before play begins
    - Players should keep at least three feet/ one meter from their televisions and dry their hands if they become sweaty or wet for any other reason
    - Remember that the Wii Remote is responsive enough to detect minor movements - so excessive and forceful actions are not necessary. Therefore we recommend not to use excessively rapid, violent or wide swinging motions while using the Wii Remote during game play.

My 6 year old daughter managed to break a strap, playing bowling...
Wii remote ended up in the fireplace... Remains of the strap still wrapped around her wrist (and she's pretty small)...

So if you haven't broken a strap yet, you just aren't trying hard enough... :D

The site doesn't seem to like my serial number...
it's of the form: LEHxxxxxxxxx (LEH + 9 numerical digits).

Can anyone please confirm if I'm using the right serial code, and the right number of digits?

mine was LEH alright - perhaps yours was a revised model, and didn't have borked wii straps to begin with. I have to wii-motes from teh USA, and they have different straps on them

Or perhaps someone used the serial code from your console already. Don't know why anyone would but someone could have just entered something randomly which turned out to be your code.

I know...I've gotton into the habit of putting it on so I always use it, which is good, but you really don't need it unless you're under 12 years old and get overexcited on Wii Sports :p

the wiimote i got with wii play looks like its stonger than the one i got with the console, but the thingy used to tighten it around the wrist keeps slipping, after every point in tennis i have to tighten it like

    pretty annoying :/

I've just ordered these but for the simple reason that my brother is a bit weird and makes sure he's sweating when he plays Wii sports and it's disgusting. The straps have gone darker so I'm getting new ones for when I'm playing.
