    Hi guys,

Are you using ISA Server (2004 or 2006) in your company ?
If yes in what kind of topology (Front end firewall, back end firewall, proxy only...).

Are you convinced about its high reliability ?

If you have it in your company, did you had to struggle to convince people ?

    Any feedback appreciated.

    Thanks

We have ISA 2000 running as a Proxy Server

Are you convinced about its high reliability ?

Yes, we have had zero problems with it so far, currently we are in the process of moving to 2006.

If you have it in your company, did you had to struggle to convince people ?

No, not at all. Its a fine product

...It is a very good proxy, cost-effective(Intel Server+ISA+windows license), there are lots of nice 3rd party plug-ins like
content filtering, AV, Web filtering and reporting. It also integrates with Microsoft Active Directory for authentication
so if your a windows house top stuff. It has a fairly nice GUI and is easy to manage, low TOC (total cost of ownership).

It is reliable, but if your worried get two of them, and use windows loadbalancing or setup proxy.pac on the clients.

    The downsides, well...
-Don't use it as firewall, its muck, and don't believe any of the FUD microsoft tell you, it is simply a "proxy server"
-Performance, it will handle loads of users, thousands in fact, but suffers badly at high network speeds 200MB+ per second of network traffic (who has a 200MB link to the internet anyway)

The website http://www.isaserver.org/ has some good info..

Well for sure ISA is a firewall, not a proxy server.
This was the case before on Proxy 1 and 2 ,but not anymore.
This Proxy function is of course provided, but is nothing compared to the other features.

I have put all sorts of firewalls in various companies including ISA servers.
It is a good firewall & has never given me any problems but I would generally recommend it as a back end firewall with an appliance such as a PIX/ASA for the front end.
Some people will have the reaction "hell no I'm not putting windows on the perimeter", but thats just stigma.
On a busy network, an appliance will be faster though!
