80,000 watched a big Frech club match on Saturday night amongst US style razmatazz

Is this the future of Professional rugby , and as the article suggests the threat to the Heineken Cup ?

I don't think so , just marketing hype in there world cup year , but interesting nevertheless.

I don't have time to read the article right now, but I think all that showmanship is actually originating from the Stade Francais owner, rather than the FRU. Pink jerseys, fireworks, cheerleaders...all came from him.

It's quite a spectacle - but better enjoyed now and again rather than at every game.

This only happens for the Stade's two biggest games of the year. 80,000 peopler with tickets starting at €5 and free scarfs and flags.
Believe me, it's not like that every week :)

And as bugler said, it's just the Stade that hosts these type of events and it's been like that for about 3 years now.
