    hi,

when im playing a dvd , mp3, or mpg. after about 10 mins the sound goes and then the media player hangs. this happens for any media player i use, real, windows, creative etc. do you think its a buffer problem? or a memory prob? if i restart the machine it works fine, any ideas?

btw i have a packard bell P4 512 mb ram.

Could be a variety of things as you say.

Check the system with Memtest+ to rule out the RAM first.

It can't be a media player issue as those players are independent from each other with their own codecs. The only common factor would be the sound card driver.

Yeah i ruled out the applications based on that also. Another thing to add is that a friend of mine also has a packard bell ( 1 yr older) and it has the same problem, im thinking this might be a common theme with packard bells!?
