They are going to line us up and figure out a new way to annoy us with no online timetables, or take money from us with an extra tuition fee or something like that. sure wouldnt that be great craic.

no but really i cant see another rag trip happening. and if it does it wont be up to the standard of craic that it should be, ie two years ago and before. it ll be a trip to an overpriced sh!thole which you wont be able to afford a taxi home from.

ament i full of sparkles and sunshine. :P

The Mystery Event IS a Rag Trip. They're just not allowed call it a Rag Trip and they had to change the format slightly too!

If it is, then they haven't recruited any stewards...that would say to me that they have hired 'professionals' to watch over the carry on in the buses, or that there is no RAG trip.

Just read your post in the other thread....can you reveal where you are getting this info from?

Doubt it'll be on after the mess that was last year.

Orla had the pleasure of being a steward last year.

nah, apparently (and this is rumours from the other thread) they are gonna start off in dublin so people will get pissed at home/in dublin, and then bus us to a big event somewhere...which is a pretty good idea, imo.

    How'd you know that?

It wasn't the worst experience of my life anyway...not stopping the bus and making people pee into bottles was hilarious.

Not entirely true. I reckon it should be a good 'event' :D

There have been stewards recruited and yes here IS gonna be a greater professional security presence...this is down to the messing last year.

It's a trip. It starts in Club 92. Then buses to somewhere else as usual and madness ensues!

One of the girls in my class got a text from the SU saying that the rag trip was cancelled due to lack of interest.

Yeah its true, the trip has been cancelled due to lack of interest. They are offering refunds tomorrow (thursday) at the students Union Office in Kevin Street and i suppose in the other SU offices. My mate got a text off them saying that it was cancelled.

its a sad day when the dit rag trip has been cancelled due to lack of interest :(

if only the 1st yrs knew what they were missing out on!!

Last year I went, as a first year, and to be honest i thought it was brutal. Long bus journey, no alcohol on a bus full of people smoking. The venue was far too far away and by the time we got there an awful lot of people had enough.

Also I had gone on the frag trip and was hugely dissappointed to see that the frag and rag trips both go to the same place. (That feckin barnyard with the sticky carpets in leitrim)
Maybe we are just boring but I thought it was Sh!te.

Conversely I went on the Maynooth rag trip which was back in maynooth by ten o clock followed by a gig by the walls I think it was. It was a great day and night, ten times better then the DIT one.

Well... that was a nice failure I guess. Was the chillout day well attended then?

Every other year there have been massive queues for rag trip tickets, with them selling out in the first hour.

To be honest i wont name anyone here but could it be that a certain person cannot organise a pissup in a brewery. Perhaps this is the same person who f*cked up the tradfest, some other failure of an SU event during the year and had to cancel the christmas ball due to lack of interest? The only SU event that was a success was the freshers ball and thats only because some bank were giving free tickets when you opened an account. Also the "carnival" in Aungier Street yesterday where some very clever organiser put the hypnotist on at the same time as a band meaning there was a band playing in the courtyard to nobody. Real smart.

There is something along the lines of 20,000 students in DIT. How can there be lack of interest for what was the biggest college event after the trinity ball.

If it wasnt for redsoc there would be no college events.

    Rant over

Too true. This would have been my 5th rag trip and i was looking forward to it.

Its not fair to putting all the blame on the S.U, they are doing their best with what they got. Students are just not taking part in things as much any more, you can see it in the clubs and socs even. If it is because its a sign of the time or what ever, i dont know.

From what i could see yesterday, the only people who were really disappointed were the 3rd and 4th years because they know what its like.

Yeah but then you have to ask how come Redsoc can sell out their events and how every other year the SU have sold out events

Ah here, you can't save the SU by blaming the student body. The whole fault of the failure has to lie with the SU, it can't be blamed on anyone else. If students are changing (which I doubt since such party hard ideas are ingrained in not only student culture but also Irish culture) then the SU should change with the times. Nope, in this circumstance I believe the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of our non-elected representatives. :D

    Na not really :D

But what I'd like to know is if there will be a Rag Trip this year ? Or has it been permanently cancelled ? With the elections coming up now would be the perfect time to put pressure on the candidates to bring Rag Trip back assuming of course the student body wants a Rag Trip ?
