Have any of you ever wanted to make a bet on a book that was closed due to the outcome being obviously a different choice than you want to back?

Paddypower have closed the book on the location of the UK's supercasino which is being announced on Tue due to receiving numerous suspiciously large bets on Blackpool a couple of days ago. The 120 page report with the result has reportedly already been printed so large bets at this stage on the 2nd favoutite Blackpool should mean it's a lock.

I came on to the net to look at betting on The Dome however, and I'm feeling pretty bloody stupid that I still want to bet on an outcome considered so certainly to the contrary that they've closed the book lol.

Hey Paddypower open the book there's a sucker to be taken :)

Always follow the money. Espeically if an internet tipped hasnt caused the price to plummet.

By the way while I was on paddypower looking at the novelty bets I came across the betting section for Tedfest 2007 (Father Ted festival next month on some Island off the West). Betting for the best celebrity character had Graham Norton at 2-1 favourite, that seems like great value to me especially since the only real other contender Pat Shorrt will win the best supporting character category, leaving Norton almost a shoe in at 2-1. €100 maximum bet cause it's a novelty bet.

Not neccessarily, remember the announcement for the olympics last year, Paris was a massive fav and shortened right up to the announcement.

Thats because people guessed it would be Paris, no one with inside information stuck there money on London, it was just joe public.

When a 2nd favourite is quickly shortened into favourite and then withdrawn you know something isnt right and should be avoided like the plague.

seems like nobody had much of an idea as to what was going on:)
Manchester has been chosen as the location for Britain's first so-called 'super casino'.

The decision to site the Las Vegas-style casino in Manchester came as a surprise.

It was widely expected that either Blackpool or London's Millennium Dome would be the preferred site. The venue will have a licence for up to 1,250 unlimited-jackpot fruit machines.

Well I knew it wasn't going to be Blackpool, but yeah I was surprised too that Manchester was recommended.

If anyone cares about this kind of thing here is the 180 page report from the casino advisory panel:

By the way I was perusing the magazines in Easons today and came acroos a British one called Online Gambling Magazine. Mostly rubbish with predictably an ad page every 2nd page. Here's their awful online site:
