Rowing Club?

Hey everyone, i was just wondering if anyone could tell me some information on the Rowing club in DCU. I row myself here in Limerick and ive never seen DCU at any regattas, usually the big boys like UCD, UCC, NUIG. I was pleasently suprised to see rowing mentioned as one of the sports in DCU in the prospectus book. I went onto the DCU website but they dont even have a conatct email for the rowing team or a website (where most other clubs do). This is leaving me with doubts if there is even a rowing team?

Could someone clear this up for me, cheers.

I'v never heard of the dcu rowing club, but I'm in the canoe club. It's great craic, one of the largest clubs in the college and well worth joining.

The rowing club hasn't been operational for a good few years now.

I can't see it starting up any time soon, which is a pity really.

Ah ffs, that a kick in the nuts, why isnt it operational? Is there just not enough students who want to row or whats the story? Was there a rowing team a few years ago?

Well like I said "it hasn't been operational for a good few years", then that would suggest that there was at one stage a rowing club yes.

In answer to your other questions, I don't know.

    No.

I suggest if you really want to know contact who ever is responsible for organising regattas etc. amongst universities, or any national rowing associations.

I wasn't involved in the rowing club as it was gone when I started so I don't know anything specific about it.

i've been in DCU for 4 years and am relatively active in C&S and I've never seen sight nor sign of the rowing club, so I'm hazarding a guess that they're no longer active.

Maybe in the future someone will set it up.

*Sigh* then why the hell is it listed in the prospectus and the website!!!! :@ :
Stupid DCU getting my hopes up.

There's nothing stopping you trying to set it up when you get there.

I was involved in reforming the women's rugby club and that's been pretty successful since. Maybe there's hope for rowing too.

I say a rowing club is fairly expensive to set up. Boats, Oars, a place to keep all the equipment etc.

Well glad to see you've given up so soon.

I'm going to close this thread now as it appears to have run its coarse. If anyone has any concrete info on the rowing club in DCU then PM me and I'll re-open it.
