    hi,
i would like to find ouy more about thai boxing and hear peoples opinions,
i am 30 and have trained in tkd for a few years and am thinking of giving boxing a go but from reading posts on the boxing forum i seem to be too old,
basically i would like to know if people think thai is a good system for self-defence,
also i would like some information on the club in rathcoole, what the training is like etc,
Many thanks to all who reply to this post.

You're not too old. Paddy Clint runs the gym in Rathcoole and is a good coach. Thai boxing is the business.

    Hi mac76
as a boxer and mma fighter i would say may thai is a great training system and 1 of the best fighting arts-the reason why its hard to get into boxing clubs at 30 is they are non profit and mainly are looking at training champions-if boxing is still on your mind ring a couple of the clubs from the boxing stickies and ask if you can train there-look for a club that does not have big numbers as they might take you in-best of luck either way

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

Class is shadow boxing , pad work and sparring with the odd bit of circuit training and rope climbing to boot... Some nights its all pads some all sparring some both all depends on whos there.

Its busy enough at the moment as there a good few started after the new year so nows a good time to have a look and see what you think, call in some time this week if you can to have a look, all info with times cost etc etc is on the web site anything else you need to know you can PM me or ask me if you make it out

    thanks for the interest

    I m 35 and I do Thai, 6 days a week. its a great system!

Like anything if might take a few months to get the hang of it, but if you stick at it, and break through this phaze, you will love it.

Go out to train with Paddy, he trained me in Thai and is one of the top coaches in Ireland.

PADDY, ARE YOU ONLY 30? you look a lot older, but i take your word. ;)

go train with Paddy, we had him for two seminars for the bjj class and the lads are still recovering. He is the best trainer around, breaks it down very simple but effective. Spear kick is great fun to be on the receiving end of.....
