Wii Fault - Game Disks will not operate in Console

    Folks,
Just bought my Wii console last nite. Set it up correctly, but when i inserted the wii sports dvd into the console it keeps making a weird noise, like theres a mechanical fault with the drive and then spitting the disc back out, and yep i rechecked that im putting the disc in the correct way. This is really annoying, not even playing 1 game! The store which i bought the wii told me to contact nintendo. they are not reopened until Monday.

Has anyone experienced this problem, or had to deal with Nintendo directly. Any feedback is appreciated.

    Cheers

You don't have to go near Nintendo, you just bought the console, go back to the store and demand a refund or a replacement Wii console.
You didn't by any chance put the disc in the wrong way the first time did you?
I have never done this so I don't know what effect it would have on the console.

But you're more than entitled to a refund or replacement from the store, let them deal with Nintendo.

No I read the instructions before i inserted the disc. even when i turn on the wii a mechanical noise is made from within wii that doesn't sound normal. it appears that the wii doesn't spin the disc. the store advised me to ring nintendo.of course your right about the store replacing the wii but i purchased there last one yeserday,so i could be waiting for a couple of weeks. i thought if i wnt through nintendo it would be quicker...going to call the store again and see how it goes...

When you turn on the Wii it's normal to hear a loudish mechanical noise, that's the lazer getting into position. So that's not your concern, how do you know it's not spinning the discs?Put your ear up to the console when you put a disc in, if it's spinning you will hear it vibrate.

We've had ours since it came out and now it wont play the discs. Really annoying I know this can happen but if ninty tell me to ship it back to the UK and wait a couple of weeks I'm gonna go mental.....
