In Ireland (at the moment), what is the best (most highly paid) industry?

I know it's a very broad question but I was just wondering :D

Highest earning category in the census survey is prison officer : average gross earnings of €1,117.93 per week, closely followed by Garda on €1,096.77 per week. Bear in mind that these figures probably include a lot of overtime.

The highest category in distribution/business services is post/telecommunications workers on €799.88 per week. Computing and R&D is €708.09 per week. Banking/building societies/insurance : €769.47 per week.

Manufacturing industries: €609.91/week (male) and €430.23/week (female) although this category is a bit broad to be of much use. In some areas such as pharmaceuticals this figure is probably much higher.

The lowest earning sectors seem to be Civil Service - Other (€430.53/week) and accommodation/catering (€418.67/week).

All the figures are from 2005 so they're likely to have gone up since then. Some industries (e.g. banking) probably have a very wide spread of incomes, i.e. lots of workers on very low pay and a few very highly paid ones , but there's no way of inferring this from average figures.
