Based on the books of Stephen Hunter. If the film is true to the book it will be worth seeing.

    It doesn't look that bad....

C'mon - at least Vin Diesel isn't in it!

The book, Point of Impact, was good. Hunter has a reputation for doing extensive research, but I don't know about the producers. I am cautiously optimistic.

Point of Impact would have been a better name, trailer looks like it could be very dodgy guess we will have to wait and see.

Horrible Horrible sterotypical images on the trailer
ie dog getting his bud while he is entertaining his lady friend etc.
The whole only 6 poeple in the world can shoot as well as you blah blah.
The opening scene from the trailer reminded me of the start of
the film firefox. Its probably Poo but I will go see it anyway.

I just bought the book on play.com for 8 Euros.
Said I would give it a read to see what it was like.
I Like marskman/gun related novels when I can get my hands on one.
    (suggestions welcome)

Reading through all descriptions of yer mans books they
look a bit childish and more or less the same plot lines.
It looks like the film brings a little of some of his other books into the plot
too. The Main character and his Father seems to be in several
of his books. (Bit like Jack Ryan in Tom Clancys books)

I have not yet read a bad book by Stephen Hunter.
The following lists what I have read in order of enjoyment. They are all shooting related:
    1. Time to hunt
    2. Pale Horse coming
    3. Point of Impact
    4. The master sniper
    5.Hot Springs
He is technically very good on firearm. His plots and characters are ok.
Most are in your local Library

The Book for this arrived and I started reading it.
Dunno quite what to make of it yet as so far
everything seems very sterotypical American type
of things that have been done to death in movies/stories.
You could almost imagine the Military characters that
you would find in the likes of Predator or Commando
or ex nam war heroes in movies.

One Interesting thing towards the start of the book was
that the Lead Character went Hunting using Rounds he
designed/loaded himself from Plastic with alaminium powder for weight.

The Idea in the story was yer man did not hunt to Kill but.....
he went hunting at 100 Yards and shot the likes of Deer on the shoulder
above the spine and the bullets were so light
they knocked the animal off its feet and stunned them for a few minutes.
Then the animal just runs off hunky dory.
It seems crazy but If the author appears to have a great technical knowledge
of firearms so its left me wondering if there is any grain of truth in it.

The reason for stunning him was to de-antler him so as that he would not be a target for the hunters.

(Am still reading the book that this movie is based on)

    http://imdb.com/title/tt0822854/

Yet almost the same story line is being done
    on another moive:
    http://imdb.com/title/tt0770806/

See this a lot in Hollywood movies lately.
